Wine

Deep knowledge world

Wine Type

There are four main types of wine. I think it is red, white, orange, rosé. Sometimes people count as 5 types including dessert wine, but this time I would like to introduce them in 4 types.
I have drank about 200 kinds of wine since I became able to drink, but I would like to show you the most delicious wine that I can remember.

White wine

White wines are made from both white grapes and black grapes. But while red wines are fermented with grape skins, white wines are not. Instead, the skins are separated so only the clear grape juice is used. White wine has few tannins; its acidic nature is what outlines its fresh, crisp and tart flavours.(Source)

Example
  • Chardonnay
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Pinot Grigio
  • Riesling
  • Aligoté
  • Grenache Blanc
  • Kosyu
  • Grüner Veltliner

Red wine

Red wines are made from black grapes fermented with the grape skins (which is where the red colour of the wine comes from), seeds, and stems. Red wine is high in tannins, which causes that bitter, dry taste in your mouth after you take a sip. (Source)
Example

  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Merlot
  • Pinot Noir
  • Zinfandel
  • Maskat Berry-A
  • Saperavi
  • Tempranillo

Rosé wine

Rosé is a wine known by its blush or pink colour. This pretty colour is created when the juice of black grapes is fermented with the skins for a very short period of time, from a few hours to a few days until the juice turns colour. Like white wine, it is also low in tannins, though some rosés are dry. Rosé is a popular crowd-pleaser, especially for summertime parties, and a great choice as a starter wine because of its light, sweet flavour. (Source)

Orange wine

Orange wineis a type of wine made from white wine grapes where the grape skins are not removed, as in typical white wine production, and stay in contact with the juice for days or even months. This contrasts with conventional white wine production, which involves crushing the grapes and quickly moving the juice off the skins into the fermentation vessel. The skins contain color pigment, phenols and tannins that would normally be considered undesirable for white wines, while for red wines skin contact and maceration is a vital part of the winemaking process that gives red wine its color, flavor, and texture.
